*THIS POST HAS BEEN UPDATED SINCE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED AND NOW INCLUDES NEW IMAGES OF ROBERT PATTINSON AS BATMAN AND THE BATMOBILE*
Warner Bros. Pictures and director Matt Reeves have unveiled the first imagery from The Batman, providing a glimpse at Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader.
Taking to Twitter, Reeves released a short Vimeo video clip, showing a close-up of Pattinson in costume. The video – titled The Batman – Camera Test – sees the actor walk into focus, while the music of composer Michael Giacchino plays in the background.
What do we think? Not much to go on, but remember, this is test footage used merely to see what the actor looks like on camera, it is not a trailer.
Here is another look at the cowl. The red shading/highlights comes purely from the lighting used in the video.
As for the suit, it looks like it is pieced together from a number of different components and has an industrial, engineered feel to it.
Released June 25th 2021, The Batman is the latest big screen reboot for the Caped Crusader, following his recent appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), and Justice League (2017). In those movies, the role of Batman was played by Ben Affleck.
For this latest adventure, Robert Pattinson will be playing the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, opposite Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. Jeffrey Wright is taking on the part of Commissioner Gordon, while Andy Serkis is Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
The Batman is currently in production, with filming initially taking place in London. Once work is complete on the picture, the film will be released as a stand-alone tale (for now), not connected to any previous Batman movies.
**UPDATE: THE BELOW IMAGES ARE NEWLY RELEASED SHOTS OF BATMAN AND THE BATMOBILE*
Director Matt Reeves has released three new images from the set of The Batman. The first is of the Caped Crusader stood next to the Batmobile.
The next two images offer up another look at the Batmobile. From the side…
And from the rear…
It is certainly a different on-screen Batmobile to one we have seen before. Thoughts?
To date, filming on The Batman has been undertaken in London and Glasgow. The scenes in Glasgow were filmed at Glasgow Necropolis – a Victorian cemetery.

Looks good, has bit of a retro arkham knight look about the bat suit.

Yeah, I got that vibe too. There’s talk online that the Bat-symbol is made up from parts of the gun that was used to kill the Waynes. Not sure if there’s any truth to that, but it sure does look gun-shaped.

I does have that look to the Bat Symbol, and would certainly give an added depth to the character if they did something like that.

The more I look at it, the more I think it is the gun. It’s certainly something we’ve not seen on film before, so that suggests this film is trying new things.
