Ben Affleck played the role of Batman for four movies: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), Justice League (2017), and The Flash (2023). He also filmed some additional scenes for the extended cut of Justice League, aka Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021).

Please note: Affleck did film a scene for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023), but it was cut from the finished movie.

Ben Affleck was originally lined up to play the role of Batman for an ongoing series of movies, however, the production of his first three films (Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Justice League) coincided with a difficult period in the actor’s life. His marriage had collapsed and he was beginning to drink heavily.

Upon advice from friends, the actor decided not to continue as Batman. Pressure from appearing in a high profile role, while at the same time going through some very personal issues, was likely to affect his health.

At this point, Justice League was to be his final movie. However, after much consideration, and some time away from the role, Affleck decided to return for two additional appearances as the Caped Crusader in 2023’s The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Unfortunately, his scene in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) was cut from the finished film, when plans were put in place in 2023 to reboot the DC movies. As such, Affleck’s appearance in The Flash became his final time in the Bat-suit.
