Catwoman is one of the most iconic characters in the Batman mythology and arguably her most iconic appearance to date came via Tim Burton’s Batman Returns (1992). Played to purr-fection by Michelle Pfeiffer, Selina Kyle/Catwoman was a standout star of the picture and was given the lion’s share of good dialogue.
In this post I am taking a look at some of that dialogue, with a rundown of Catwoman’s best lines. From killer quotes to acerbic asides, these are the best words from the best villain.
The realisation that you are alone…
Selina Kyle: “Honey, I’m home. Oh, I forgot. I’m not married.”
Telling some home truths…
Catwoman: “You’re the second man who killed me this week, but I’ve got seven lives left.”
Batman: “I tried to save you.”
Catwoman: “Seems like every woman you try to save ends up dead – or deeply resentful. Maybe you should retire.”
An alternative diet plan…
Catwoman: “Somebody say fish? I haven’t be fed all day!”
Batman: “Eat floor. High fibre.”
Putting people in their place…
Catwoman: “You poor guys. Always confusing your pistols with your privates.”
Sometimes you just have to be indecisive…
Catwoman: “How could you? I’m a woman.”
Batman: “I’m sorry, I-I…”
Catwoman: “As I was saying, I’m a woman and can’t be taken for granted. Life’s a bitch, now so am I.”
Keeping it simple…
Takes one to know one…
Bruce Wayne: “You-you’ve got kind of a – kind of a dark side, don’t you?”
Selina Kyle: “No darker than yours, Bruce.”
Knowing what you want in a relationship…
Selina Kyle: “It’s the so-called “normal” guys who always let you down. Sickos never scare me. Least they’re committed.”
Knowing you look good…
Catwoman: “I don’t know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much yummier.”
It’s not you, it’s me…
Catwoman: “Bruce, I would – I would love to live with you in your castle… forever, just like in a fairy tale. I just couldn’t live with myself, so don’t pretend this is a happy ending!”
And finally, when all else fails, just be fierce…
Catwoman: “I am Catwoman. Hear me roar.”
