Who is Ms. B. Haven in the Batman movies?

The Batman movies contain many colourful, imaginative, and intriguing characters, from Gossip Gerty and Bane to Eckhardt, Bob the Goon, and Julie Madison. Another character within this eclectic mix is Ms. B. Haven – a character who briefly popped up in 1997’s Batman & Robin.

But who is Ms. B. Haven? And where did she originate – in comics or in the movies?

Who is Ms. B Haven?

In Batman & Robin, Ms. B. Haven appears in one scene in the movie, appearing opposite Mr. Freeze, as played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the scene, set in the Snowy Cones Factory (aka Freeze’s lair), Ms. B. Haven interacts with Mr. Freeze, as a member of his gang.

It would appear that she is the only female member of his team, and unlike the rest of his gang, who are all decked out in ice hockey gear and are prepared to throw punches at the Dynamic Duo, she doesn’t get quite so involved in the physical side of his schemes. However, Ms. B. Haven is no shrinking violet, and while she may not be physically imposing, she sure has a great deal of confidence.

During her scene, Ms. B. Haven flirts with Mr. Freeze, to remind him that she is a very attractive woman who is attracted to his power. She knows that Freeze only has eyes for his wife, Nora, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to win him over anyway.

Who played Ms. B Haven?

In Batman & Robin, Ms. B. Haven is played by American actress, Vivica A. Fox. Fox is known for her roles in movies such as Independence Day (1996) and Soul Food (1997), as well as TV shows including City of Angels and Missing.

When taking on the role of Ms. B. Haven, Fox was reassured by director Joel Schumacher that her femininity and beauty would be brought to the forefront of the character. Speaking in the book, Batman & Robin: The Making of the Movie, Fox said: “Joel said that he would make me beautiful, and that I could just have a good time and be a ham, ‘cause everyone else was’”.

Was Ms. B. Haven created for the movie?

Ms. B. Haven was created especially for Batman & Robin. The character did not originate in the Batman comics, and was instead an original creation, conceived for the movie universe.

To date, Ms. B. Haven has only appeared in one Batman movie.
