In 1992, Batman: The Animated Series landed on television. The cartoon show, based on the DC Comics character of the same name, followed the story of Batman and his ongoing fight for justice in Gotham City.

Upon making its debut, the series was deemed a colossal hit with audiences and fast became must-see television. Critics loved the show’s sharp writing, excellent plotting, and superb animation, while fans appreciated the care that was taken to ensure the Batman mythology was presented just right.

One of the defining successes of Batman: The Animated Series was its crazy cast of core villains. And one of the best rogues was the Penguin, aka Oswald Cobblepot, who appeared in the series multiple times.
